Shehu Sani, the Senator representing Kaduna Central, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to respond to choice of a Muslim by the Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, as his running mate for the 2019 governorship election in the state.
El-Rufai has been under attack days after he appointed Dr. Hadiza Balarabe as his running mate.
Media recalls that El-Rufai explained that he consulted Buhari before he made the choice of Dr. Hadiza Balarabe as his running mate.
But reacting, Sani wondered how Buhari would okay a Muslim-Muslim ticket in Kaduna state despite having a Christian as his Vice President.
The Kaduna lawmaker then urged the President to clarify his position on the matter.
Sani, on his Twitter page, wrote: “President’s name is dragged into the politics of manipulation of religion in Kaduna state, there’s the need for him to make a public clarification.
“It’s puzzling that a President who has always respected religious sensitivities, when nominating his vice could have recommended otherwise for Kaduna.”
