LASDRI PARTNERS LACVIS, AUTOGLOBE TO HOST DRIVERS’ APPRECIATION DAY

In its bid to ensure that all professional drivers in Lagos State are well-schooled in the art of driving and encourage them to comply with the rules and regulations guiding road safety, the Lagos State Drivers’ Institute (LASDRI), in conjunction with Lagos Computerised Vehicle Inspection Service (LACVIS) and Autoglobe Media Services, is set to host the Y2021 Drivers’ Appreciation Day.

The General Manager of LASDRI, Mrs. Afusat Tiamiyu, who spoke on a magazine programme, “Awaye”, on Radio Lagos 107.5FM, said the event was aimed at appreciating and rewarding professional drivers, who have been of good conduct and had imbibed the safe driving culture.

Tiamiyu explained that appreciating the professional drivers will further strengthen the working relationship the institute built with various transport unions, just as it would encourage others yet to visit the institute.

Calling for active participation of all road transport stakeholders in the forthcoming Drivers’ Appreciation Day, she emphasised that partnering with Lagos Computerised Vehicle Inspection Service (LACVIS) became necessary because safety on the road is not only about the drivers but also about vehicles being driven on the road.

“We want to ensure that professional drivers, who have never failed to attend the institute for their yearly mandatory training and regularly visit LACVIS for proper evaluation of their vehicles, are well appreciated. This is because if a driver is well schooled, the vehicle he is driving must also be in proper working condition. Therefore, it will be a major criterion for the selection of professional drivers that will be appreciated”, she disclosed.

The General Manager further stated that participation in the Drivers’ Appreciation Day is not limited to commercial transport drivers, but will also include other categories of drivers in the employment of both the public and private sectors as well as non-professional drivers, who voluntarily visit the institute for their yearly mandatory training.

The LASDRI boss gave an assurance that the institute will continue to work tirelessly to develop various educative training topics that will eradicate carnage and improve safe driving culture on Lagos roads.

Speaking in a similar vein, the Chief Executive Officer of Autoglobe Media Services, Mr. Tunde Bola Ojo, informed that the present administration adopted the appreciation method to encourage compliance with all the rules and regulations guiding road safety in the transportation sector.

In his words: “Over the years, the method of enforcement has been engaged to ensure that drivers obey the traffic rules and regulations in the State and also go for their yearly mandatory training at LASDRI”.

“I strongly believe by appreciating them, especially those that voluntarily comply yearly, we will be able to draw commitment from them and make our roads safer for the motoring public”, he said.
