IJEDE GENERAL HOSPITAL SENSITISES STAKEHOLDERS ON COVID-19 SAFETY PROTOCOLS

… As Third Wave Gathers Momentum

The Medical Director/CEO, General Hospital, Ijede, Dr. Sunday Okudero, has charged stakeholders in the community to continue to adhere to all COVID-19 precautionary measures.

Dr. Okudero, who gave the charge recently at the facility during his first meeting with stakeholders, implored the community residents to continue the observance of all safety measures through hand-washing with running water, use of facemasks, maintaining physical distancing and observing cough etiquette.

He stressed that no one would gain entrance into the facility if these precautionary measures are not adhered to, saying “We have had Alpha, Beta, Zita Gamma, and the most popular now is the Delta Strain, which has developed itself. This virus mutates despite all efforts to ensure it is curtailed, it wants to survive and its target is the lungs”.

Okudero informed that transmission from one person to another is a rapid one and that when viruses change position, they tend to become virulent, adding that the Delta Variant spreads quicker and faster compared to previous strains of COVID-19.

While maintaining that the Covid vaccines will help boost the immune system, fight the virus, make the patient less prone to complications and reduce the death rate, Okudero implored the stakeholders to disseminate and sensitise other members of the community on the new variant so that they can continue to adhere to COVID-19 precautionary measures and get vaccinated.
