How Lagos State Official Destroyed Our Homes, – Isoko Community | Blissful Affairs Online
*The President Must Hear and investigate their excesses.*
*It’s done in a Commandoe style*
*Any excuse on the demolition is just giving a dog a bad name in order to hang it*
That we are customary owners of the land situated at Ikota, Eti Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State is not contestable, that we are not there by accident but legally allowed by law is not debatable. That we are Nigerians and peacefully coexisting with our host is not in doubt. What is the irony is the fate of the fourteen landlords in the community who are now displace leaving one dead!.
The Isoko Community in Ikota, Lagos, is reeling from the demolition of their homes and businesses by Lagos State officials. The community claims they have been living on the land for nearly 60 years under a valid 50-year lease agreement with the Ojomu family. Fourteen landlords were affected, and one resident, Gift Ologbo, died after losing his home and business.
The community alleges that the demolition was carried out without prior notice, and they had submitted relevant documents to authorities. They are seeking intervention from President Bola Tinubu and have engaged Rotimi Williams Chambers to pursue legal action.
Speaking through their Lawyer , Barrister Benson Williams, on the 3rd of July, 2025 some people in Lagos State Building Control Agency Bus and thugs in commandoes style alighted from it and chased out residents behold and behold pull out structured already in place , left certain residents wounded and one of the landlords passed away immediately after the dastardly operations by Lagos State Official of the Agency. Barrister Benson Williams told Aiyekooto Reporters.
Throwing more light to the incident, attempt to reach the traditional ruler of covering the area, Oba Tijani Adetunji Akinloye proved abortive but sources close to the palace revealed that His Royal Majesty is unhappy with the development in displacing people without recourse to legal binding within the Ojomu Chieftaincy Family and the victims. Further sources revealed that the King is mute over the incidence since victims themselves have resolved to approach the Court to unrivaled the mystery of the demolition of their homes.
However, in a fact finding mission , Aiyekooto Reporters can authoritatively revealed that the then Chairman of the Lagos State Building Control Agency, Chief Gbolahan Oki claimed ignorance of the incident but refer to another office. However, the office of the Governor of Lagos State, the Special Assistant to the Governor on eGIS and Urban Development, Mr Olajide Abiodun Babatunde was reached as at the time of filing this report, he claimed ignorance of it and confirm that he’s too officially engaged to visit the scene after several months of the dastardly acts committed against lawful residents of the community.
Therefore, the unofficial statement from government quarters is a clear indication that Lagos State Official are aware of the demolition but it is an abuse of office and power to illegally carry out such demolition without recourse to legal binding documents. Hence , the hide and seek games!
Though, the displaced residents after living in the community for over two decades while on a fifty years lease cannot be thrown out like trash without civilized way of approaching it. In the eyes of law it is land grabbing and abuse of office which should be frown at by descent and law abiding people of Lagos State and Nigerians.
As the days unfold , will the Isoko Community Landlords accept compensations or sue the State Government as their Lawyer Barrister Benson Williams confirm. Only time shall tell .
