AUDITOR-GENERAL FOR LGs SET TO COMMENCE PROJECT INSPECTION, ASSET VERIFICATION

The Auditor-General for Local Governments in Lagos State will commence a Statewide Projects Inspection Exercise and Asset Verification in all the 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas in the State.

A statement issued today by the Permanent Secretary/Auditor-General for Local Governments, Mrs. Adesumbo Abolarin, stated that the exercise will commence on the 16th November and end on 4th December 2020, with specific attention on projects undertaken and completed between January and December 2019.

She maintained that the exercise will also verify all movable and non-movable assets of the Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).

According to her, “In order to ensure a worthwhile exercise, Professionally Qualified Engineers in diverse fields from the Ministry of Housing, Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, New Towns Development Authority and LSDPC have been co-opted to strengthen and add value to the Audit-Team’s technical competence”.

While reminding the LG/LCDAs that the outcome of the inspection and verification exercise will be published and widely circulated, she enjoined the Chairmen of the Councils to cooperate with the inspection teams towards the timely completion of the exercise.
