
AGN Marks 100 Days of Purposeful Leadership, Institutional Renewal and Strategic Progress Under Alhaji Sanusi Abubakar Yakubu | Blissful Affairs Online
The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has celebrated the first 100 days of the administration of its National President, Alhaji Sanusi Abubakar Yakubu, highlighting a period marked by purposeful leadership, institutional reforms, stakeholder engagement, and renewed confidence within Nigeria’s film industry.
In a statement issued during the commemorative address titled “100 Days of Purpose, Progress & Institutional Renewal,” the AGN President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to repositioning the Guild as a stronger, more credible, globally competitive, and professionally respected institution that truly serves the interests of actors both in Nigeria and in the diaspora.
Addressing distinguished members of the Board of Trustees, National and State Executives, Nollywood veterans, stakeholders, and partners, Alhaji Sanusi Abubakar Yakubu stated that the administration came into office with a clear vision to lead with integrity, inclusiveness, accountability, and impact.
According to him, the first 100 days of the administration have been defined by strategic engagement, institutional renewal, and measurable progress aimed at restoring confidence in the Guild and strengthening its role within the entertainment industry.
The AGN President noted that the administration is built on five core pillars which include inclusivity and unity, institutional reform, welfare, strategic partnerships, and global competitiveness.
He stressed that every member of the Guild matters, regardless of status, experience, or geographical location, adding that the administration remains committed to ensuring that both veteran and emerging actors have a voice within the Guild.
As part of efforts to reposition AGN within national and international development conversations, the Guild engaged major institutions and organizations including MTN Nigeria, Globacom, and the High Commission of India in Nigeria.
According to the President, discussions focused on digital empowerment, industry support initiatives, capacity development, and long-term collaborative opportunities that would directly benefit actors across the country.
Highlighting achievements recorded within the first 100 days, the administration listed several key milestones, including:
Nationwide stakeholder engagement tour
International Women’s Day celebration
National membership screening and verification exercise
Introduction of the new AGN identity card initiative
UK-Nigeria Creative Roundtable and Awards in London
Memorandum of Understanding with the Content Creators Association of Zimbabwe (COCAZ)
Memorandum of Understanding with the Actors Guild of Sierra Leone
Participation at the Windsor International Black Film Festival in Canada
Health Awareness Week and welfare interventions
Successful Edo State election
Welfare interventions for sick members
Successful dispute resolution initiatives
Speaking on future plans, Alhaji Sanusi Abubakar Yakubu disclosed that the administration is already working toward several transformative initiatives designed to strengthen the Guild’s structure and global relevance.
These include the establishment of the AGN Performers’ Rights Society, full unionisation of the Guild, the proposed Screen Actors Awards, Patrons’ Investiture and Awards Night, AGN Regional Creative Summits, consultative forums, and expanded corporate partnerships.
He explained that the initiatives are aimed at securing the future of the Guild as a digitised institution capable of competing and collaborating globally.
The AGN President also used the opportunity to appreciate the support and guidance received from President Emeritus, Dr. Ejezie Emeka Rollas, members of the Board of Trustees, National Executive Council, State Chairmen, industry veterans, stakeholders, partners, and members of the Guild both at home and abroad.
He emphasized that the encouragement and support of members continue to inspire the administration to do more in advancing the collective interests of actors and the Nigerian entertainment industry.
“As we move forward, let us remain united in purpose and committed to the collective progress of our Guild and our industry.
The foundation has been laid, the momentum is strong, and the future of the Actors Guild of Nigeria is even brighter,” he stated.
The address concluded with a renewed call for unity, professionalism, and commitment toward building a stronger and more globally respected Actors Guild of Nigeria.
