A GAIN THAT IS LOST: A CALL FOR PRAYERS FOR IGBOS | Blissful Affairs Online

Introduction

The Igbo people have faced decades of discrimination, marginalization, and oppression since after the civil war in Nigeria. Despite our significant contributions to the country’s growth and development, we have been met with violence, destruction of property, betrayal and outright denials. Our situation has defied solution. We tried war and failed, tried politically and failed. Let us try God. This is a  call to the Igbo people to unite in prayers considering the gravity of our situation and to speak out against the injustices we face.

The Illusion of Gain

Many Igbos have been lured by the promise of power, wealth, and recognition, only to find out that their gains were fleeting and ultimately lost. There are  examples of individuals who thought they would benefit from betraying our people but ended up with nothing. Their stories serve as a reminder that any gain achieved through treachery and complicity is a gain that is lost.

Discrimination and Marginalization

The discrimination and marginalization of Igbos are not random events but rather a deliberate policy. The destruction of Igbo properties in many parts of Nigeria like Lagos, Abuja and other crimes against humanity committed against ndigbo are stark reminders of this reality. It is essential for Igbos with voices to speak out against these injustices.

A Call to Action

We must recognize that our silence and complicity are tantamount to betrayal. Let us call God. We  invite you to  the upcoming World Igbo Prayer Summit (WIPS) 2024, scheduled to take place in Umuahia, Abia State, from Tuesday, 13th August to Friday, 16th August 2024 at Okpara Auditorium. This momentous event is organized by the Christian Association of Igbo Ministers (CAIM). CAIM is a non-denominational global association of God-fearing, Spirit-filled ministers of God of Igbo extraction who have the burden and passion to pray for Ndigbo and Alaigbo.

Conclusion

The story of the Igbo people is one of resilience and strength in the face of adversity. We want to come together as a people and cry out to God for His intervention in our affairs. We want to pray for His peace and prosperity in our land as the Bible says, in 2 Chronicles 7:14,  “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” This is our hope and our prayer.

Let us not be fooled by the illusion of gain through betrayal. Let us stand united and pray for, justice, and equality. The time is now. Igbos, wake up!

We look forward to seeing you in WIPS Abia 2024 !
