Ogun State Government says it will continue to invest in the development of roads and other infrastructure to attract more investors into the State, to boost its status as the investors’ destination of choice.

Towards this end, it would be working with the Federal Government, through the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) to formulate laws and policies that would ensure continuous funding and maintenance of rural roads across the State.

Commissioner for Finance and Chief Economic Adviser to the Governor, Mr. Dapo Okubadejo stated this in Abeokuta during a meeting with officials of RAAMP, describing the State as the logistics and distribution hub of the country.

Okubadejo noted that agriculture is pivotal to its overall development, adding that the government would ensure rural roads were motorable for ease of transportation of farm produce to industries and processing zones.

“Agriculture is a key development pillar for us. Also, there are lots of developments in recent times that have made this very crucial if we are to improve on our competitive and comparative advantages. If we are going to continue to attract investors into the State, our infrastructure has to be topnotch”, Okubadejo added.

Speaking earlier, the National Coordinator, RAAMP Engr. Aminu Muhammed, represented by Lead Infrastructure Engineer, Engr. Abdulaziz Buka-Gana and Consultant on Road Sector Reform, Maysam Abedin hinted that they were in the State to seek the opinion of stakeholders on the need to establish an agency for the maintenance of rural roads after the expiration of the RAAMP project in December 2026.
