LASPPPA DISTRICT OFFICERS SUBMIT REPORT ON LOWER-ORDER DEVELOPMENT PLANS
The District Officers of Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority(LASPPPA) have submitted the final reports of Lower Order Development Action Plans for the upgrade of existing communities and development of evolving ones in 30 communities to the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.
The development plans will aid decisions on the kinds of buildings, health, security facilities, recreational centres, roads and drainages to be designed for the communities in order to prevent haphazard development.
The Director, Development and Lower Order Plan Department of the Agency, Tpl Olayinka Alaka, said “the development plans are guides in giving building approvals; they serve as a blueprint in delivering building plan approvals and curbing unorderly development in such areas.”
Alaka further disclosed that the presentation was for new developments as well as a review of old development plans of the 1950s and 60s, noting that plans must be revisited to meet new socio-economic needs and lifestyles of the people.
He stated that the Lower Order Plans presented to the Ministry included those of Ifako-Ijaiye, Agege, Alimosho, Surulere, Eti-Osa West, Eti-Osa South, Victoria Island, Ikoyi and Yaba communities amongst others.
“The recommendations contained in the plans will be forwarded to relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Government for consideration and additional inputs for the harmonious development of the State’s physical environment”, Alaka stated.
He maintained that the periodic reviews are part of strategies to ensure that physical developments in Lagos State conform to the original Master Plan and layout of the State for orderly development and socio-economic benefits of all.
