LASPEMA TO PARTNER LG/LCDAs ON INFORMAL SECTOR IMPROVEMENT

The General Manager, Lagos State Planning and Environmental Monitoring Authority (LASPEMA), Tpl. Daisi Oso, has declared the need to form a synergy with Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas in the State as part of efforts to organise the people of the informal business sector.

Tpl. Oso, who stated this when he paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of Ikosi/Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, added that the collaboration with LGs and LCDAs will harness potentials at the grassroots as they contribute over 80% to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the economy.

He opined that working hand in hand with the local authorities, such as Ikosi/Isheri LCDA, on data gathering and mapping the activities of the informal sector in Lagos will fast track the necessary interface with institutions like Primary Healthcare Centres (PHC), among others, to enhance patronage.

Reiterating the need to work as a team, Tpl. Oso, expressed the need to expedite action on setbacks and incidental open spaces, especially post-construction spaces, before miscreants and undesirable elements encroach on them.

In her response, Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada applauded the giant strides of LASPEMA since the appointment of Tpl. Daisi Oso as the new General Manager in organising the Informal Business People, promising to assist the Agency in every possible way to sanitise the sector.
