The People Democratic Party, PDP, has commended the National Assembly over its threat to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari.
The National Assembly on Tuesday, reaffirmed its resolution of vote of no confidence on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris.
This was one of the resolutions of the lawmakers, after an emergency joint session which was held behind closed doors.
The resolutions were read by Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
Reacting, PDP via its Twitter handle, said it has been vindicated.
The tweets read “The resolutions of the joint session of the National Assembly @nassnigeria against President Muhammadu Buhari’s @MBuhari Presidency is a vindication of our earlier stance on the Buhari administration.
“We commend the members of the National Assembly @nassnigeria for their patriotism and courage in unanimously standing up for democracy, rule of law, national stability and cohesion at this trying time.
“Nigerians would recall that the PDP had consistently pointed out the misrule of the @MBuhari presidency, as well as the unrelenting violations of our constitution, unprecedented executive highhandedness, abuse of the rights of citizens and the erosion of all known democratic norms”.
