Nine Arrested in Ajiran Over Deaths of Prince Ademola Akinloye and Sheriff Agboworin | Blissful Affairs Online
At least nine persons have been arrested in Ajiran in connection with the killing of Prince Ademola Akinloye and Sheriff Agboworin, following an ongoing police investigation into the violent incidents. The arrests were carried out by law enforcement agencies based on intelligence and inquiries linking the suspects to the deaths. Police sources confirmed that those taken into custody were arrested specifically over their alleged involvement in the killings, which have unsettled the community in recent weeks.
Following the arrests over the two deaths, tensions rose in parts of Ajiran as some youths reportedly stormed a filling station and vandalised property in protest. The action was said to have been fuelled by rumours suggesting that a Lagos-based businessman, Aare Bashir Fakorede, was connected to the operation. However, investigations revealed that the suspects were arrested solely because of their alleged links to the killings, and not for any personal or land-related dispute.
Sources close to the investigation disclosed that some of the suspects had allegedly made confessional statements during preliminary questioning, admitting their roles in the killings. The suspects were also said to have named individuals who allegedly coordinated the attacks, further strengthening the case against them.
Meanwhile, one of the protesters, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said some residents were frustrated and had been misled into believing that external influence was behind the arrests. Community leaders have since appealed for calm, urging residents to allow the police to continue their investigation into the deaths without resorting to violence.
Speaking later on the development, Mogaji Ola Muhammed, media adviser to Aare Bashir, clarified that the arrests were strictly based on police investigations into the killings. He stressed that security agencies acted on available evidence and that his principal had no involvement in the operation. He also condemned the destruction of property, describing it as a result of misinformation.

Efforts to obtain official comments from the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report. However, security sources maintained that the arrests were made strictly in connection with the killings and that further investigations are ongoing.
