As an Ambassador of Peace and Youth in Africa, Prophet Dr. Godwin Ikuru believes it is imperative for the Nigerian government to take decisive action to improve the value of the naira if the country’s economic condition is to be turned around. According to him, this can be achieved by reducing dependency on the dollar and strengthening the country’s financial base.
Prophet Ikuru, the founder of Jehovah Eye Salvation Ministry, is a renowned man of God who values service, purity, and a deep relationship with God. In this insightful conversation with Adaobi Enekwa of Blissful Affairs Magazine, Prophet Ikuru opened up about his ministry, the state of the nation, and the role of the church in shaping future generations.
Prophet Ikuru described himself as a true servant of God, called to illuminate, empower, and bring direction to people’s lives. His ministry focuses on delivering messages of hope and transformation through the power of God’s Word.
When asked about the proliferation of fake pastors and prophets, Prophet Ikuru explained that there are many men of God, but true seers — prophets who can accurately unveil future events — are few. He insisted that true prophets do not base their messages on ordinary dreams or imagination; instead, their messages come directly from God. His numerous prophecies — from the future of President Goodluck Jonathan, the Niger Delta crisis, the Kogi governorship race, the Nassarawa and Borno elections, to the rise of the President of Ghana — all attest to this unique ability.
Prophet Ikuru also revealed how his messages were not always well-received. He tried to warn Rivers’ former Governor Wike against choosing Fubara, sending messages through friends and directly to him, but Wike disregarded the warning. Today, the whole world can see the consequences.
Turning his attention to the state of the nation, Prophet Ikuru insisted that the federal government must act decisively to stabilize the naira. He explained that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu meant well but was overburdened by responsibilities. His view is that the President should empower institutions — customs, police, and immigration — to prohibit transactions in dollars within the country. According to him, this policy will control inflation and make prices more stable.
He cited Ghana as a clear example. There, transactions must be done in the local currency, which has helped to stabilize their financial system. The Prophet insisted that in the past, 100 dollars was about 35,000 naira — a far more reasonable rate. Now the naira has fallen against the dollar, the pound, and even the cedi. “We need to repackage our financial system. If we do this, the price of food, petrol, and other products will come down and ease the suffering of ordinary Nigerians.”
Prophet Ikuru spoke warmly about Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, praising him as the best governor in the country. “He has a good heart and deep respect for men of God.” Ikuru described how Sanwo-Olu promptly addressed a road crisis in the state and explained, “How many governors respond immediately when their people are suffering?” If it were within his power, Prophet Ikuru said, “I would extend his tenure because I know it would be for the people’s benefit.”
As a peace and youth ambassador for Africa — a role conferred upon him in Addis Ababa — Prophet Ikuru explained that his mission is to promote peace and unity across the continent and empower young people to realize their potential.
Turning his attention to the youth, Prophet Ikuru expressed deep concern about their attitudes and choices. He explained that many young people pursue a fast route to success and ignore the counsel of their parents and elders. He used the example of Peller, a rich young man under 25 who already has a girlfriend and disregards parental guidance. Prophet Ikuru insisted this was not the way forward for Nigerian youth. “We weren’t raised this way. Today, many young people ignore their parents and follow their friends instead.” Furthermore, many attack their own country on social media instead of honoring it, a practice that would be condemned in America, the UK, Ghana, or Dubai.
He called on young people to appreciate their nation and help move it forward. “Nigerians should love their country and respect their institutions. The best is yet to come.” Prophet Ikuru drew upon the words of the late Prophet T.B. Joshua to underscore his view — “In politics, the best is yet to come.” The future will be bright if unity, peace, and love become the guiding principles of the people.
As the interview drew to a close, Prophet Ikuru encouraged all Nigerians to celebrate their nation, help one another, and respect their institutions. “Other nations celebrate us; we should appreciate ourselves first.” His final words were a powerful call to unity — a reminder that the future of the country depends on the collective will of its people.
