Lebanese Consul General Pays Courtesy Visit to AIG FCID Annex, Lagos | Blissful Affairs Online

The Consul General of the Republic of Lebanon, Lagos, His Excellency Mansour Chaya, on Thursday, 5 May 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Lagos, AIG Simeon U. Akpanudom, Psc fdc mspsp MNIM, at his office in Alagbon, Ikoyi.

During the visit, the Consul General highlighted the long-standing cordial relationship between the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Republic of Lebanon. He noted that a considerable number of Lebanese nationals reside and conduct business in Nigeria, with many having become Nigerian citizens through generations of residence and integration. According to him, members of the Lebanese community continue to contribute significantly to business and economic activities across Nigeria.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the Lebanese Consulate to strengthening cooperation with Nigerian institutions, particularly in areas relating to security and law enforcement.

The Consul General further assured that the Lebanese Consulate would be willing to support initiatives of the Nigeria Pollce Force, and facilitate visa requests for officers where necessary, in line with the growing relationship between both institutions. He added that a formal official visit would be scheduled and communicated to the AIG to further consolidate and expedite the working relationship between the Force and the Lebanese Consulate.

In his response, the AIG FCID Annex, AIG Simeon U. Akpanudom, warmly welcomed the Consul General and expressed appreciation for the visit. He introduced members of his Leadership Team present at the meeting and reaffirmed the importance of sustained collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force in line with the mission of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu psc+ NPM, and readiness of the Department to work closely with the Lebanese Consulate in further strengthening the existing relationship to facilitate investigation.

The AIG explained that the FCID Annex in Lagos plays a vital role in criminal investigations within the country. He further sought cooperation in facilitating speedy investigation of cases where Lebanese citizens are involved, noting the existing cooperation between the two countries through INTERPOL.

Both parties expressed their willingness to deepen cooperation and formalize institutional cooperation between the Force and the Lebanese Consulate through an appropriate legal framework that would enhance Mutual Legal Assistance between both countries considering the long standing relationship.
