LAGOS SET TO HOST LANDMARK “VOICES OF OUR SOCIETY” CAMPAIGN AGAINST SILENT KILLERS Blissful Affairs Online
Adaobi Enekwa-led two-day advocacy initiative mobilises government agencies, security institutions, educational institutions, media, religious bodies, private-sector stakeholders and youths to confront threats to public health, security and national development
Lagos State is set to host a major multi-sector advocacy initiative as Oscar Bravo Productions Concept, in collaboration with Blissful Affairs International Magazine, presents the Voices of Our Society – Campaign Against Silent Killers, a landmark two-day programme designed to strengthen national consciousness and mobilise collective action against some of the most pressing social, security and public-health challenges confronting society.
The initiative, convened by Adaobi Promise Enekwa, media entrepreneur, publisher, scriptwriter and advocate for youth development and public enlightenment, is built around the theme:
“STRENGTHENING NATIONAL CONSCIOUSNESS: CONFRONTING SILENT THREATS TO YOUTH, SECURITY AND PUBLIC HEALTH.”
The campaign will commence with a Public Awareness Road Walk on Wednesday, 26th August 2026, at 7:00 AM, followed by the Main Advocacy Conference and Recognition Ceremony on Thursday, 27th August 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos State.
The two-day initiative is designed to move beyond conventional awareness campaigns by creating a platform where institutions, professionals, young people and members of the public can collectively examine the causes, consequences and possible solutions to challenges including drug abuse, cultism, crime, violence, insecurity, counterfeit and falsified drugs, reckless driving, social disorientation and other silent threats capable of undermining the future of young people and the stability of communities.
According to the organisers, the concept is founded on the understanding that these challenges are interconnected and cannot be effectively addressed by one institution or sector acting alone.
Drug abuse, for instance, can have serious implications for youth development, education, family stability, crime and public safety, while counterfeit and falsified medicines constitute a major public-health concern.
Similarly, reckless driving and road indiscipline continue to place lives at risk, while crime and insecurity can undermine education, investment, economic activity and community development.
The Voices of Our Society Campaign Against Silent Killers therefore promotes prevention, public education, institutional collaboration, responsible citizenship and sustained community engagement.
The campaign has attracted the participation, goodwill and support of stakeholders across several sectors, reflecting the broad relevance of the initiative. Government and security institutions including NAFDAC, NDLEA, LASTMA, Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency, Nigeria Police Force, Federal Road Safety Corps, NSCDC, correctional services, Man O’ War, National Orientation Agency, the Red Cross, Ambassador Cornel Udofia and many others represent important dimensions of the campaign’s focus on public health, security, road safety, civic responsibility, youth development and community resilience.
Their involvement reinforces the importance of collaboration in confronting challenges that affect citizens across different social and economic backgrounds.
Educational institutions also have a critical role to play in preventing social vices and empowering young people. The University of Lagos (UNILAG) and Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) have agreed to participate in the two-day programme.
Their participation is particularly significant because young people should not merely be the subject of conversations about social challenges; they must be active participants in developing solutions and shaping the future of society.
The media and entertainment industry will also form an important part of the advocacy conversation. The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) and media professionals are among the stakeholders associated with the initiative, recognising the powerful role of film, television, radio, journalism, comedy and digital platforms in shaping public opinion and influencing social behaviour.
Responsible storytelling and public-interest journalism can help communities understand emerging threats, challenge harmful behaviours and encourage positive choices, particularly among young people.
Religious institutions, community leaders and other civil-society stakeholders are equally important to the campaign because the prevention of social vices requires strong families, responsible communities, positive values and trusted voices capable of guiding young people.
What makes Voices of Our Society particularly significant is its deliberate effort to bring together stakeholders whose responsibilities may differ but whose objectives ultimately converge around the protection of human life, youth development, public safety and national progress.
The campaign recognises that many of society’s most damaging problems do not emerge overnight. They often begin quietly through poor choices, negative peer influence, substance abuse, social neglect, misinformation, lack of guidance and other vulnerabilities. By the time the consequences become visible, families and communities may already be dealing with serious damage.
The campaign therefore seeks to encourage society to act earlier through awareness, education, prevention, mentorship, community engagement and institutional cooperation.
At the centre of the initiative is Adaobi Promise Enekwa, whose background in Mass Communication, media, publishing, entertainment and public advocacy has shaped the vision behind the campaign.

The Voices of Our Society – Campaign Against Silent Killers represents an extension of that vision.

The campaign presents an opportunity for stakeholders to demonstrate their commitment to youth protection, public health, security, road safety, responsible citizenship and national development, while creating meaningful partnerships capable of producing sustained social impact.
The organisers emphasise that the success of the initiative should not be measured only by attendance. Its greater objective is to stimulate conversations that continue after the event, strengthen collaboration among institutions, encourage young people to make responsible decisions, empower families and communities, and promote practical action against the challenges being addressed.

As Lagos prepares to host the two-day advocacy programme, the organisers believe that the time has come for every sector of society to recognise its role in protecting the present and securing the future.
Society cannot afford to remain silent about the issues threatening its young people, families and communities.
