In a strategic move aimed at strengthening investigative leadership within the Nigeria Police Force, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has approved the redeployment of Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Annex, Alagbon, Lagos.

The redeployment, which takes immediate effect, was approved on Monday, 2nd February 2026, as part of the ongoing efforts by the police high command to enhance operational efficiency, reinforce professionalism, and reposition key departments of the Force for optimal performance.
With this posting, AIG Disu assumes responsibility as the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force CID Annex, Alagbon—one of the most critical investigative formations of the Nigeria Police Force. The command is widely regarded as a hub for handling complex criminal investigations, high-profile cases, and sensitive matters of national importance.
Prior to this redeployment, AIG Olatunji Disu served as the AIG in charge of the Special Protection Unit (SPU), where he played a significant role in coordinating protective security operations for top government officials, dignitaries, and critical installations. His tenure at the SPU was marked by strengthened operational discipline and improved security frameworks.
AIG Disu is a highly experienced senior police officer with an impressive career spanning several strategic commands across the country.

He previously served as the Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, a role that placed him at the center of policing and security coordination in the nation’s capital.

He also served as Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, among other key assignments, where he demonstrated strong leadership and operational effectiveness.

He was elevated to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police on 25th March 2025, a promotion widely seen as recognition of his dedication, professionalism, and consistent service to the Nigeria Police Force.

Security analysts and stakeholders believe that his wealth of experience, investigative insight, and command exposure will add significant value to the Force CID Annex, Alagbon. Expectations are high that under his leadership, the department will witness enhanced coordination, improved case management, and stronger intelligence-led investigations.

The redeployment further underscores the commitment of the IGP Egbetokun-led administration to deploying seasoned officers to strategic positions as part of broader reforms aimed at strengthening internal security, boosting public confidence, and improving the overall effectiveness of the Nigeria Police Force.
