Following the pronouncements of Awujale of Ijebuland, highly respected Oba Sikiru Adetona, urging the ijebus to start looking for a successor, Otumba Subomi Balogun, founder of FCMB is set to be eyeing the seat for his son, Ladi Balogun, the next Awjale of Ijebuland and this move has hit the rock.

Our investigation revealed that it was the members of Subomi Balogun that has risen against him.

The Balogun family is next in line to succeed the stool of Awujale of Ijebuland.

Sources disclosed that the opposition has root in the treatment the holder of the chieftaincy title of Olori Omoba meted out in the past.

We gathered that the wealthy Nigerian known to exhibit great pride in his achievements kept many at arm’s length.

His victorian lifestyle approach in relating to people is said to have pushed many away.

‘’They say he refused to accommodate them and made them feel inferior, especially those struggling to make ends meet, they claim Otunba Balogun treated them with disdain and arrogance’’ a source stated.

The source continues‘’The grouse is that Otunba made himself inaccessible all these years and now, because he wants to make his son the next Awujale and needs the support of the entire family he suddenly changed overnight, calling for meetings to discuss family matters and asking after everybody’’

Insiders disclosed that overtures of Balogun who is the holder of the national honor of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) are being rebuffed by angry family members.

‘’The campaign against Otunba Balogun within his family is that if his son becomes King which validates his wealth with the status of royalty, he would treat them worse’’

Others interested in the throne in the FCMB founder’s ruling house – and outsiders plotting their failure – are said to be exploiting the campaign against Balogun by his family members to advance their own causes.

The added revelation available, however, revealed that it is certainly not a case of lost hope for Asiwaju Onigbagbo (Christians) of Ijebuland.

Sources disclosed that he has deployed foot soldiers to appease angry family members.

Ladi, the son Otunba Balogun is pushing to become the next Awujale of Ijebuland is the Chief Executive Officer of the First City Monument Group, a position he attained after serving as the maximum 10years term as Managing Director of First City Monument Bank.
