*Family Seek IGP Egbetokun’s Intervention as Cross River Police Allegedly Releases Suspected Killers of 8 Month-Old Pregnant Woman
The family of Miss Nneoyi Sunday Felix have decried gruesome murder of their daughter who is eight months old pregnant by Ofem Usani, Usani Augustine, Emmanuel Ettah and others from Biko-Biko clan, UGEP, Yakurr LGA in Cross Rivers State.
According to reports, the unfortunate incident occurred when the suspects had an altercation with the deceased and brutally assaulted her by strangling her to death in circumstances which are not only questionable but evidently malicious. Sadly, without informing her family or consulting with them, in a bid to cover the unlawful act, the suspects through one Etem they paid a quack doctor to unlawfully remove the baby from the deceased womb and deposited her corpse in the mortuary, UGEP General Hospital and also buried the baby.
Consequently, the couple absconded. But the family wrote a petition to the Cross Rivers State police command which was approved. The perpetrators of this heinous crime were tracked, arrested at their hideout today. The man who was harbouring them made a statement and confessed to the fact that he was the one who paid the N40,000 for the removal of the baby from the deceased without the approval of the family and buried them.
Sadly, the family were shocked when a few hours after their arrest, the suspects were allegedly released on the order of the Commissioner of Police in Cross Rivers, Mr Augustine Grimah. These unfortunate developments have sent shock and dismay to the family concerned which made them doubt the capability of the Cross Rivers state police command under the CP to administer justice and equity on such a horrible criminal incident.
They appeal to the good office of the Inspector General of police, Kayode Egbetokun and other social crusaders to wade in and ensure the deceased family gets the justice they deserved
