    Ekiti: Three in court for stealing pumping machine

    Three suspects, Buhari Ibrahim, 18; Muniru Yahaya, 20; and Rufai Isiaka, 20, were on Monday arraigned by the Ekiti State Police Command before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate Court.

    The suspects were accused of stealing a pumping machine.

    The suspects were said to have committed the offence on July 18 at about 11:40 a.m at Tinuola Area in Ado-Ekiti.

    The police prosecutor, Insp Caleb Leramo, told the court that the accused stole the pumping machine, valued at N40,000 belonging to one Oso Modupe.

    He said the offence contravened Section 302 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.

    The prosecutor asked the court for an adjournment to enable him study the case file and assemble his witnesses.

    The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against them.

    Counsel to the defendants, Mr Sunday Balogun, urged the court to grant the defendants bail, with a promise that they would not jump bail.

    The Chief Magistrate, Mr Saka Afunso, granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N20,000 with one surety each in like sum.

    He adjourned the case till August 28 for hearing.
