
DAY TWO OF NATIONAL POLICE WEEK 2026: FCID ANNEX LAGOS HOLDS WALKATHON TO PROMOTE FITNESS, COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, AND PUBLIC CONFIDENCE | Blissful Affairs Online
The Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex Lagos, on Tuesday, 31 March 2026, continued activities marking the 2026 National Police Week with a two-hour walkathon, themed “Together we walk. Together we Secure” aimed at promoting physical fitness, strengthening community engagement, and enhancing police visibility.

The exercise commenced from the office of the FCID Annex Lagos and proceeded through the Kam Salem House / Force Headquarters Annex Lagos roundabout axis before returning to the starting point, covering major adjoining routes within the area. The Police Band provide music. Medical personnel were in the procession with pilot and back up vehicles. Adequate water and refreshments were provided. Members of the press were on ground while adequate security was provided.

The walkathon was led by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of FCID Annex Lagos, AIG Simeon U. Akpanudom psc fdc mspsp MNIM, alongside senior officers and personnel of the Department. During the exercise, the AIG, alongside officers and men of the Department, interacted with members of the public and representatives of the press, reaffirming the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to community partnership and public safety.
The exercise also provided an opportunity for officers and men of the Department to demonstrate the physical fitness and readiness required of police personnel in the discharge of their duties as they were no casualties .
Speaking during the exercise, the AIG reiterated the commitment of FCID Annex Lagos to the vision and leadership of the Inspector-General of Police,IGP Olatunji R Disu, psc+ NPM, and to the theme of the 2026 Police Day celebration, “Community Partnership: Building Trust.” He emphasised that the Nigeria Police Force remains dedicated to strengthening collaboration with the public in order to enhance security, promote peace, and build mutual trust between the Police and the communities they serve.
The AIG further encouraged members of the public to continue supporting the Police with timely and useful information, assuring that the Force remains committed to professionalism, accountability, and service to the nation.
