In a visit that underscored the strengthening bond between the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) and the Lagos State Police Command, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary/CEO of LSSTF, Dr. Ayo Ogunsan, at the Fund’s head office in Lagos, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can report.

The meeting reflected a shared commitment to deepen operational synergy, boost crime-fighting capacity, and reinforce the collective resolve to keep Lagos safe.

Welcoming the Commissioner, Dr. Ogunsan expressed profound appreciation for the visit, describing CP Jimoh as a special and exceptional leader whose professionalism continues to inspire confidence across the security landscape of the state. “It is an honour and privilege to welcome you to the LSSTF office. You are very special. There are so many firsts about you. You have done a lot, yet you are unassuming and share all the credit with your team.”

Dr. Ogunsan highlighted the Commissioner’s work ethic and dedication, noting that his passion for securing Lagos is evident in his tireless efforts. “Your sleepless nights, we can see it in Lagos being secured,” he said. “We understand the inherent challenges that come with policing worldwide, but leadership has made the challenges surmountable.”

Drawing a vivid analogy to illustrate the sense of assurance the Commissioner provides, the LSSTF boss remarked: “It is like when you have a veteran flying the aircraft, you will be relaxed.”

He further disclosed that Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu holds deep trust in the Commissioner’s leadership of the Lagos Police Command.

“The Governor said to me that with you at the Police Command, he doesn’t get worried,” Ogunsan noted. “We will continue to work with you. You are the lead agency. We appreciate you.”

He concluded with a heartfelt assurance of continued partnership, saying: “Thank you very much. I will come to repay this visit very soon.”

CP Jimoh, in his response, expressed gratitude for the warm reception and reaffirmed the Command’s longstanding respect and admiration for the Fund’s strategic support to policing in Lagos. “We are happy to be here today to come and congratulate you and pledge our support and cooperation with your administration,” he stated.

The Commissioner recalled his early interactions with LSSTF, noting that his relationship with the Fund predates his current position. “Going down memory lane, you are the first person to bring me here to see the former Executive Secretary,” he said, pointing to the consistency of partnership that has shaped his understanding of LSSTF’s role.

He lauded the Fund for its continuous support in training, logistics, and operational resources that have enhanced the capacity of the Lagos State Police Command. “You have provided a lot of training, support, and cooperation to the Lagos State Police Command. We want to assure you that there will be an increase of collaboration and cooperation between your office and the Lagos State Police Command.”

Reflecting on his nine months as Lagos Commissioner of Police, CP Jimoh described LSSTF’s contributions as indispensable. “Within the nine months I have spent in Lagos, I can say that without your assistance, policing Lagos would be difficult,” he stated emphatically.

The Commissioner further acknowledged not only the tangible resources but also the psychological and institutional confidence LSSTF gives the Command. “Apart from your contribution we get, the confidence we get from LSSTF is amazing,” he said.

Looking ahead, CP Jimoh pledged a strengthened operational drive that would ensure accountability to the Fund’s donors and serve as a benchmark for other states. We are going to forge ahead so that your donors can have a reward for what they have contributed and to ensure that it is a point of reference to other states,” he assured.

He emphasized the centrality of proactive and intelligence-driven policing, highlighting two primary pillars of modern crime-fighting. “Crime prevention and control are key,” he declared. “When you prevent crime, you have less pressure. Crime detection is also very important, and we will still continue to need your support.”

The visit ended with mutual commitments to deepen collaboration, explore new avenues of partnership, and continuously enhance the safety architecture of Lagos.

As Lagos remains Nigeria’s commercial nerve centre and West Africa’s economic hub with complex security demands, the renewed alliance between the Lagos State Police Command and the LSSTF signals a reinforced, unified approach to safeguarding the state.
