CJPAN MOURNS MEDIA ICON, SOLKEM

The Celebrity Journal Publishers Association of Nigeria (CJPAN) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Olusola Seyi Olugbemiro, popularly known as Solkem, publisher of Access Weekly Magazine and convener of the Ikeja City Award and Nigeria Media Nite Out Award.
Olugbemiro, who reportedly died recently after a brief illness, was described as a passionate media entrepreneur, publisher and promoter of excellence whose contributions left an enduring mark on Nigeria’s media, entertainment and events industry.
In a condolence message, President of CJPAN, Comrade Funmi Olowosegun, described Olugbemiro’s death as painful and shocking, saying the news had thrown members of the media community into mourning.
Olowosegun said Solkem would be remembered for his passion for journalism, commitment to excellence and determination to use the media to recognise and celebrate individuals who had distinguished themselves in their various fields.
According to her, Olugbemiro was more than a publisher, as he dedicated himself to creating platforms through which outstanding personalities, brands and organisations could receive recognition and visibility.
She particularly noted his role in establishing and sustaining the Ikeja City Award and Nigeria Media Nite Out Award, which provided platforms for celebrating achievements in journalism, entertainment, business and other sectors.
“His death is a great loss to the media family and to everyone who had the privilege of knowing and working with him. Solkem was passionate about his work and deeply committed to recognising excellence.
“We are saddened that such a vibrant and hardworking media personality has left us at this time. His contributions to the industry will remain part of his enduring legacy,” Olowosegun said.
The CJPAN president commiserated with the family of the deceased, as well as his friends, colleagues, associates and the wider media and entertainment community.
She urged those mourning him to take solace in the positive impact he made during his lifetime, stressing that the best way to honour his memory was to sustain the values of professionalism, creativity, excellence and service for which he was known.
Olowosegun prayed God to grant the deceased eternal rest and give his family the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
The death of Olugbemiro has continued to attract reactions from colleagues, friends and associates across the media and entertainment industry, with many recalling his energy, resilience and passion for promoting people and institutions through his media platforms.
For many practitioners, his passing represents the loss of a media personality who understood the power of recognition and consistently provided platforms for celebrating excellence.
