In an attempt to borrow a clue from the lyrics of that popular song, by a young contemporary Nigerian Musician, “CELEBRATE ME WHEN I AM ALIVE, NOT WHEN I DIE”, by PATORANKIN.

The Actors Guild of Nigeria, has taken a clue from that song mostly as a wake up information rather than a measure for only entertainment, for the veterans are ageing and fading away despite their age long invaluable contributions to the creative arts and the Movies industry, without commensurate recognition and remuneration.
Perhaps, it was for that reason that the Executives of the Guild, thought it wise to begin to eulogise, pamper and celebrate their veterans who were more like Pathfinders in the Nollyhood sector.
And, a day came, last Friday, the 26th of June, 2026, when the exquisite Ojez Sports Lounge, at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, bubbled with the Executives and Members of the Guild, Movies, music, Comedy and fun lovers, as they thronged the venue to hold an all night gig, in celebration of four great Actors, who have taken Nollyhood movies and music entertainment to the zenith, from their prime till date.

Reacting to the gesture, Barrister Ogbonna thanked the members of the Guild for the Award and acknowledged it as one of his most cherished Awards so far. He explained that he has paid his dues in the comedy genre, as he started his craft very early before many people, years ago.

The Award plaque for Mr Ruggedman, was handed over by another Actor in the House, Mr Jude Orhorha, as he referred to him, not as Rugged Man but “MEN”, for his invaluable contributions to the Music and movies industry.
It was disclosed that, Ruggedman cut his teeth in acting some years ago before even delving into music hence his recent movie productions which he explained would soon be made public.
The invied dancers took their turn to outperform the others, even as , the white bearded Uncle Jude Chukwuka also stepped onto the stage with the mic, to showcase his rap dexterity, which took the people’s beath away, seeing an octogenarian rapped so energetically like that, on stage.
