“PROMOTION IS NOT A REWARD!” – IGP Tunji Disu Drops Stern Warning to Newly Promoted AIGs & CPs: Zero Tolerance for Corruption & Misconduct! | Blissful Affairs Online

In a no-nonsense address that has Nigerians talking, the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has sent a strong message to the Force’s top brass.
While decorating 13 new Assistant Inspectors-General (AIGs) and 17 Commissioners of Police (CPs) (part of 84 senior officers recently promoted), IGP Disu made it crystal clear: Higher rank means higher responsibility — not a license for abuse.
Key Warnings from the IGP:
“Promotion is a call to service, not a reward.”
“From this moment, you are strategic leaders. Your actions must reflect discipline, integrity, and absolute respect for the rule of law.”
“There will be zero tolerance for indiscipline, abuse of office, corruption, or dereliction of duty under your command.”
He vowed to hold them personally accountable — and warned that any misconduct will attract strict consequences.
Disu also urged the new senior officers to lead from the front, mentor junior ranks, and ensure professionalism in their jurisdictions. He announced that the new AIGs will immediately proceed on a mandatory Strategic Leadership Retreat starting today.
Why This Message Hits Hard
Nigerians have long complained about police brutality, extortion, and abuse of power. This direct warning from the top signals a possible shift under Disu’s leadership — emphasizing merit, discipline, and accountability over “business as usual.”
Many are asking:
Will this finally clean up the system? Or is it just another speech?
Nigerians React:
“Finally! Time to hold the big boys accountable too.”
“Promotion without discipline is dangerous.”
“We’re watching to see if actions will match these words.”
