…Congratulates Speaker’s Media Manager on New Role

The Celebrity Journal Publishers Association of Nigeria (CJPAN) has applauded the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, for appointing seasoned media strategist and public relations expert, Adeshina Oyetayo, as Special Adviser on Research, Media, and Documentation.

In a statement issued by CJPAN President, Comrade Funmi Olowegun, the association described the appointment as a commendable move, noting that Oyetayo’s wealth of experience and professionalism will be a valuable asset to the Speaker’s media operations.

Olowosegun emphasized that the appointment would yield significant positive results if the new adviser is given the liberty to fully deploy his expertise and collaborate effectively with his media colleagues.

The appointment, which took effect in March 2025, is seen as a strategic boost to Speaker Obasa’s media team. Oyetayo brings with him over two decades of rich experience in journalism and media management.

Prior to his appointment, he was the CEO/Editor-in-Chief of XS-Proficient Media Services Ltd, publishers of theassemblyng.com, a platform accredited by the National Assembly and known for its in-depth coverage of legislative activities. He also worked on niche publications for state governments, institutions, and private individuals.

Oyetayo began his journalism career at TELL Magazine in 2002, and later joined Punch Newspaper in 2010 as an external columnist. He served as the Managing Editor of Lagos Indicator magazine from 2014 and was also an undercover reporter with BBC Africa Eye. He is the author of Behind the Streets, a compelling chronicle of personalities whose names are etched into Lagos geography.

An award-winning journalist, Oyetayo was a finalist in the 2006 CNN/MultiChoice African Journalist of the Year Awards, Young Journalist of the Year in 2005, and Journalist of the Year at The Future Awards Africa in 2007. He also won Best Music Writer at the MTV MAMA Awards in 2010.

He holds a degree in Mass Communication from Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, and studied Philosophy at the University of Lagos. With his robust media background, Oyetayo is expected to significantly enhance the communication strategy and public engagement efforts of the Lagos Speaker’s office.
