Femi Fani-Kayode, former Aviation Minister, has reacted to the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, judgement against the former Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Walter Onnoghen, over alleged non-asset declaration.
Media had reported that the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, Thursday, in its judgement banned Onnoghen from holding public office for 10 years.
It also removed Onnoghen from office as the Chief Justice of Nigeria, and chairman, National Judicial Council, NJC, and, confiscated, seized and order the forfeiture of all his monies deposited in his Standard Chartered Bank accounts located in Wuse 2, Abuja.
In his judgment, chairman of the tribunal, Danladi Umar said the monies in the affected five bank accounts were acquired illegally, particularly as Onnoghen was said to have not proved his source of income for the seized monies beyond all reasonable doubts.
But reacting, Fani-Kayode in a tweet on Thursday, said Onnoghen’s conviction was not surprising.
He said, ”The convction of CJN Onnoghen by the CCT is not surprising. It is part of a wider plan, an unfolding script and a hidden agenda.
”Nigerians should brace themselves for more. They say a people get the type of govt. that they deserve. I weep not for Onnoghen, I weep for Nigeria.”
