TG/PS OF EDUCATION DISTRICT IV HOSTS NEW STATE CHAIRMAN, MEMBERS OF NUT

… Solicits Cooperation of New Exco 

 

The Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Education District IV, Mr. Sunday Agboade Jokotola, has played host to the newly elected Chairman and executive members of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), Lagos State Chapter.

In his address during the visit, the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary thanked everyone and appreciated the courtesy visit of the Chairman and his entourage, describing the Education Sector as “One Big Family”,

He stated that the Lagos State Education System cannot be compared to other States in Nigeria, especially in terms of standard of teaching and learning structure, noting that the present administration has done so much in making sure no child is left behind and that every child in Lagos State has the right to quality education.

His words: “The importance of teachers in the scheme of things cannot be overemphasised, as they are very skillful, diligent and hardworking, they are the real nation builders. The District, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, will continue to support the teachers to access quality training, as this will enable the students to excel in their studies”.

The TG/PS implored the Union to speak with the teachers from time to time, organise seminars to upgrade their teaching skills, encourage them to stand firm in the profession, assuring that the State is doing all it can to make sure the teachers’ welfare is taking care of.

Earlier, the newly elected Chairman of NUT (Lagos State Chapter), Comrade Akintoye Hassan, appreciated the Tutor-General for his leadership skills and good guidance, noting that teachers have been making good comments about his laudable performance since assumption.

Comrade Hassan also applauded the Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for his passion and love for education, particularly on the developmental stride and huge investment his administration has made in the education sector so far.

His words: “I must also commend the Governor on the training and re-training programmes organised by the State Government for teachers to meet up with the 21st Century teaching skills and upgrading of the teaching methods. These had made learning fun for both the teachers and the students. Generations to come will surely remember Mr. Governor’s contributions to the education sector”.

He also assured the TG/PS that the Union will continue to support the State Government and teachers in their various fields to further enhance their capabilities in class.

The President of All Nigerian Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), Alhaja Folasade Moronkeji, represented by the Financial Secretary of the Association, Mrs. A. O. Oyefeso, described the TG/PS as a man of wisdom through his excellent performance, assuring him of her continued support.

Alhaja Moronkeji also congratulated the new Chairman of NUT, Lagos State Chapter, for his success and dedication to the association, appealing to the Union to motivate the teachers and encourage them to be on top of their job by playing the game according to the rules.
