Police In Lagos Confirm Two killed By Unknown Gunmen
The police command in Lagos State has confirmed that two persons were killed by unknown gunmen in Gowon Estate, Ipaja area of the state.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday.
The police image maker said that the incident happened on Wednesday at about 11.35 p.m.
He said that the Gowon Estate Police Division received a call from the Naval Block of the estate that some people were shot by unknown gunmen on 41 Road, Union Bank Block in the estate.
The image maker said that two patrol teams immediately moved to the scene.
Hundeyin said that at the scene, the police officers were told that the victims had been rushed to Igando General Hospital.
” While at the scene of the shooting, the police recovered nine expended cartridges and a bunch of keys.
“At Igando General Hospital, further information given to the police revealed that two male corpses were taken away by some men suspected to be members of the Yoruba Nation agitators, and further investigation revealed the identities of the deceased to be that of Oyedele Gbenga and babatunde Omobuwa, said to be among the wanted members of the Yoruba Nation agitators led by Sunday Igboho who have been on the wanted list of the Nigeria authority since 2021 following their role in the Yoruba Nation Lagos Mega Rally of July, 2021 which was later cancelled as a result of the attack on Sunday Igboho’s house and killing of some of his allies by Security Agencies.
The whereabout of the other allies of Mr Igboho, Emmanuel Adebayo, Olaonipekun, Oyeleke Oyerinde is still unknown as they were said to have fled the country for safety of their dear lives.
The spokesperson said that investigations into the case were already ongoing.
