The Country Director of Save the Children International (SCI), Mr. Famari Barro today paid a courtesy visit to the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Primary Health Care Board (LSPHCB), Dr. Ibrahim Akinwunmi Mustafa at the Board’s Office in Yaba, Lagos.

Welcoming the new SCI Country Director to his Office, the Permanent Secretary of LSPHCB, Dr. Ibrahim Mustafa congratulated him on his appointment and expressed the State Government’s gratitude towards the various programmes the SCI is running in Lagos.

Mustafa reaffirmed the present administration’s dedication to reducing child morbidity and mortality in the State through an array of specifically designed and coordinated interventions and services, especially with the expertise being provided by SCI.

Earlier, the SCI Country Director, Mr. Famari Barro said the purpose of his visit is to express his deep appreciation to the Board for the ongoing collaborative programmes between both organisations.

While highlighting programmes being run by the SCI in 16 other states in Nigeria, he solicited the continued support and cooperation of the Lagos State Government, through LSPHCB, towards achieving the goals of the international body in the country.

SCI is an International Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) working in partnership with many states in Nigeria, including Lagos, in support of an efficient healthcare delivery system.

The SCI, in collaboration with GSK, is presently running an intervention programme, known as ‘Inspiring’, which focuses on the prevention and control of childhood pneumonia and other diseases. It also aims to improve maternal, infant and young child nutrition using Ikorodu Local Government Area (LGA) as a pilot scheme.
