LEKKI LCDA FLAGS OFF FREE HEALTH MISSION FOR RESIDENTS

The Chairman of Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mr. Rasaki Bamidele, has flagged off a five-day free health programme for residents of the community.

In his address at the commencement of the programme held in the LCDA Secretariat in Lekki, Bamidele reiterated his commitment to working with the State Government to prioritise and promote excellent healthcare services for the people, stressing that every informed and diligent government must give priority to the health sector.

He explained that one of the first things done by his administration on assumption of duties last year was to evaluate the status of all the healthcare facilities and proffer necessary solutions toward enhancing service delivery for all residents in the LCDA.

His words: “Our assessment led to the reconstruction of the Primary Health Centres at Idotun and Magbon Segun and equipping them with Solar System to ensure constant electricity supply. We also set up a dental checkup centre at Origanrigan and purchased an ultrasound machine to enable the pregnant women to have their scan without travelling long distances”.

“In addition, we have also helped indigenes with the payment for their surgeries while more community health workers have been recruited and posted to various health facilities across the LCDA”, he added.

The Chairman emphasised that the free health mission is a reminder that residents must always be conscious of their health status and the importance of periodic medical checkups at healthcare facilities in the locality.

While pointing out that the success of the free health programme will largely depend on the cooperation and enthusiasm of the people, he averred that a lot still needs to be done in the area of health, promising that his administration will continue to look for ways to improve the quality of health services rendered to the people.

The Council boss also expressed his gratitude to the medical team, the community leaders, the royal fathers and everyone who has contributed to making the health mission a reality.

The mission will offer residents free medical screening for biophysical profile, diabetes, prostate cancer, pelvic scan, dental screening, COVID-19 immunisation, free drugs and eyeglasses among others.
