LASPPPA ADVISES PROPERTY SUBSCRIBERS ON PHYSICAL PLANNING APPROVALS

Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA) has enjoined members of the public, especially those interested in buying, leasing or renting apartments to always ascertain if the property has relevant approvals from the government.

The General Manager of LASPPPA, Tpl. Kehinde Osinaike, who gave the advice recently during an enforcement exercise in Lekki, emphasised the need for the general public to be cautious and vigilant when dealing with owners of buildings and properties in the state.

According to him, the advice became imperative based on observations made during routine enforcement exercises by officials of the Authority where it was discovered that some unsuspecting subscribers of new properties usually get sanctioned by LASPPPA as a result of ignorance and their inability to carry out due diligence about the approvals on the buildings they had subscribed to.

Osinaike also warned developers and those in the real estate sector business to desist from deceiving their clients about physical planning approvals on their properties, thereby making ignorant accommodation seekers commit their money to such properties.

In his words: “I will advise anyone willing to buy or subscribe to new properties to henceforth request for evidence of Planning Permit /Building Plan Approval and also ascertain conformity with Permit granted before committing their hard-earned money to the acquisition of such properties”.

“This is for the purpose of guarding against social embarrassment and possible loss of economic deliverables from their businesses, through ‘Seal-Off Orders’ for non-compliance”, he added.

The General Manager also informed members of the public to visit the Head Office of Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority at Oba Akinjobi Way, Old Secretariat, GRA Ikeja or contact the Authority through its official email: laspppa @lagosstate.gov.ng or Phone number: 08033245420 for further inquiries/clarifications.
