The General Manager, Lagos State Drivers’ Institute (LASDRI), Mrs. Afusat Tiamiyu has solicited for the cooperation, support and voluntary compliance with safety rules by motorists in the battle to curb the spread of Coronavirus in Lagos.

Speaking at an interactive session with some media executives at the Oshodi Centre of the Agency, Tiamiyu explained that transportation is an essential part of human activity and, in many ways, forms the basis of all socio-economic interactions.

According to her “Given the importance of the sector and the emergence of the pandemic, there is a need for all stakeholders in the transport sector to complement the State government’s huge investment and efforts to curb the spread of the deadly and contagious virus by adhering to all stipulated rules and guidelines for the operation of public transportation in Lagos”.

The General Manager argued that the curve of the ravaging COVID-19 can only be flattened by strict observance of all rules and regulations issued by the Lagos State government, stressing that effective management of transportation during a pandemic in a mega city like Lagos requires the collaboration and cooperation of all stakeholders to achieve the desired objective.

Tiamiyu, however, disclosed that despite the present situation LASDRI will continue to train professional drivers at its various centres across the metropolis, while complying fully with all safety rules and guidelines issued by the Federal and State Governments to contain the pandemic.

She, therefore, appealed to all drivers and motorists in the State to join hands with the Lagos State Government to fight the deadly pandemic by obeying all necessary safety precautions at home and while driving on the roads.
