LASG ORGANISES SUMMER CULTURAL TRAINING FOR CHILDREN, TEENSAbout 50 children and teens are currently being exposed to diverse training in arts and crafts to sharpen their creativity instinct at a week-long training programme organised by the Lagos State Council for Arts and Culture.In his address during the opening ceremony of the programme at the Council’s headquarters on Obafemi Awolowo Road, Alausa, the Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Agency, Mr. Oladusi Komolafe, enjoined the participants to make good use of the opportunity, noting that programme would focus on functional use of the Yoruba Language, Etiquette, Arts and Craft, Dance Drama, Music and Cloth Weaving among others.“Let me state categorically that every knowledge gained in any aspect of life is vital for human capital development. As such, I must urge each and every one of you here today to make the best use of this rare opportunity to acquire these important skills”, he asserted.In his remarks, Deputy Director, Department of Performing Arts, Lagos State Council for Arts and Culture, Mrs. Mofoluke Oluwasanmi, who is also a facilitator at the programme, enjoined the participants to pay utmost attention during every session at the training.Mrs. Oluwasanmi stressed that rather than using the holiday period imprudently, the training offers an uncommon prospect for the participants to learn new and life impacting things.She said: “What you will be learning in the course of this training could make a significant impact in your life, if put into prudent use”.Some of the participants were full of praises to the Lagos State Government for coming up with such a laudable initiative. They pledged to contribute their own quota to the administration’s Greater Lagos agenda by making use of knowledge gained during the week-long training.The Summer Cultural Fiesta, which ends on Friday, August 13, is aimed at reawakening indigenous cultural values with an emphasis on entrenching and preserving the indigenous language and moral ethos among the young ones
