LASG HOLDS Y2021 FESTIVAL OF CHORAL, CLASSICAL MUSIC FINALEThe Lagos State Government has held the finals of the Y2021 Festival of Choral and Classical Music among schools from the six education districts across the State.In her address at the event held at Adeyemi-Bero Auditorium, Alausa, the State Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo, described the music initiative as a platform to showcase various talents of the students to the world and further encourage, stimulate and motivate them to be professionals in the world of arts and music.She pointed out that Lagos State Public Schools are noted for their high number of gifted and exceptional students not only in academics but entertainment and other co-curricular activities.In her words, “The extraordinary choral music talent of school children from the six education districts across the State that are on display today attest to the abundant, raw endowment of our students and pupils in public schools in Lagos State”.She disclosed that the State Government’s investment in the provision of total education has continuously enhanced the proliferation of smart, multi-skilled, exceptional and gifted students.Adefisayo expressed her joy that among the participating students from different schools, extraordinary talents have been discovered and the State is indeed proud of them, stressing that music and art skills are veritable sources of income for youths across the world. “I enjoyed hearing them sing and we are indeed proud of the fact that we have such great talents in our schools and encourage them to follow their passion and be determined to succeed”, she stated.The Commissioner advised the students to be resilient, passion-driven, and standout in various aspects of their academics as the State Government will continue to invest massively in providing a conducive environment for teaching and learning.Earlier in her opening remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mrs. Abosede Adelaja, revealed that the Ministry in the last two years had initiated various programmes aimed at engaging the students.She noted that this avenue has also given the education sector insight on how to assist the students to be better professionals in their discovered talents, imploring the parents to encourage these children rather than condemn them at an early stage.Adelaja opined that with their performance on stage during the preliminaries, the future is bright for them and efforts will be intensified by the State Government to assist them to excel.Highpoints of the event were presentations of trophies and gift items to the overall winners at the district level and various soloists.In the Choral presentation, Education District IV won the first position, leading Districts III and VI to second and third positions respectively, while Ogundele Oladotun of Lagos State Junior Model College, Agbowa, representing District III, emerged overall best soloist and stage performer.
