LASG GETS KUDOS FOR SUPPORTING “KAYOKAYO” FESTIVAL

·        Epe Indigenes Applaud Sponsorship of Annual Celebration

Indigenes of Epe have commended the Lagos State government for supporting the annual “Kayokayo” festival.

Speaking at the grand finale of the week-long event, Honourable Wale Raji, representing Epe Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, congratulated the people of Epe and the State for the memorable annual “Kayokayo” festival.

Raji applauded the organising committee for the creative initiatives introduced to the festival on annual basis, noting that it has become part of the history of Lagos.

His words: “I am happy that the essence of this festival has been retained and it has afforded all of us the opportunity to eat and dine together in unity. I will continue to give the people of Epe an unprecedented and qualitative representation in the best way possible and I am grateful to them for their immeasurable support so far”.

Disclosing that the first secondary school at Odo-Temu Community in Epe will begin academic activities in September 2022, having received approval from the State Government, Raji gave an assurance that he would continue to provide the necessary support to develop the Epe community.

Also speaking, another indigene of Epe and Executive Chairman of Ibeju Lekki Local Government Area, Mr. Sesan Abdulahi, acknowledged that the State government has been part and parcel of the cultural development of Epe, adding that the influx of visitors, tourists, investors and the presence of top government officials at the celebration of the “Kayokayo” festival signalled Epe as a tourist destination in Lagos and Nigeria.

He also envisaged that the festival would grow the Epe economy, urging the State government to invest massively in publicising the festival to the world at large.

A member of the organising committee and Director with the State Ministry of Justice, Mr. Bayo Saliu, also praised the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for supporting and promoting the festival as well as selecting Epe Division as one of the six pilot areas for the Community-Based Tourism (CBT) initiative.
