LASG FLAGS OFF CONSTRUCTION, UPGRADE OF NEW AGBOYI-KETU, BOUNDARY JETTIES

The Lagos State Government has commenced the construction and upgrade of Agboyi-Ketu and Boundary Jetties in its continued efforts to boost water transportation in Lagos State.

Flagging off the construction of the jetty at Agboyi-Ketu, the Honorable Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Development, Arc. Ahmed Kabiru Abdullahi disclosed that the State Government decided to upgrade the jetty in consideration of the need of the inhabitants of Agboyi I, II and III Islands who commute daily to other parts of Lagos as well as the surrounding communities in Ketu and Alapere.

Arc. Abdullahi pointed out that the water would be dredged, and a proper channelisation route established to allow bigger vessels berth at the jetty in order to further boost the standard of living of residents in Agboyi-Ketu and its environs while reducing travel time along the axis.

Emphasising the commitment of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to improving all transportation systems in the State, the Commissioner charged the people of the community to take ownership of the project and cooperate with the contractor for prompt delivery.

Similarly, the Waterfront Commissioner was also at Boundary in Ajegunle where he flagged off the construction of another modern reinforced concrete jetty with a shelter to serve the people of Ajegunle, particularly the traders of the popular Alayabiagba market who daily transport goods from Ajegunle to Takwa Bay, Ilado and other Islands within the axis.

He promised the people of the area that the water will be appropriately dredged and enhanced with good channelisation to accommodate bigger vessels.
