LASG EDUCATION DISTRICT I HOLDS END OF YEAR THANKSGIVING SERVICE

  • Tutor-General Praises God For Excellent Academic Performance in Y2021

As a show of gratitude to God for His Goodness and Mercies, the Lagos State Public Service Christian Fellowship Education District I, on Wednesday, held its Y2021 End of Year/Thanksgiving Service with the theme: “His Mercies Endureth Forever” at Government Senior College, Agege.

The Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Barrister Margaret Titilayo Solarin said the thanksgiving was organised to appreciate God for His wonders and mercies in the lives of students in Education District I whose academic performance has improved beyond expectations.

She recalled that the performance of students from the District in the Y2021 West African Examination Council (WAEC) tests was excellent and very encouraging compared to last year’s results.

In her words: “One of the schools under Education District I, which people had believed nothing worthwhile could come from, produced a student with seven distinctions which has never happened before”.

“I want to say categorically that these students are brilliant. What we need is to change our tactics and styles, guide and encourage them, the students will surely perform better”, she added.

The TG/PS, therefore, enjoined parents to be committed and ensure that the tutoring and guidance of the students are not left for teachers alone, saying that they also have roles to play towards the success of the students.

Pastor Michael Shofolahan, Chairman, Planning Committee, said that the programme was designed as a platform for everyone to praise God for the gift of life, adding that without life there is nothing anyone can do.

“Nobody has control over his or her life and for the fact that God preserved our lives, that alone is enough reason to gather to praise God and give thanks to Him”, he added.

While speaking on God’s miracle in the lives of students in the District in the last WAEC examination, Shofolahan thanked God for crowning the efforts of the teachers in achieving great success with students’ academic performance.

He also acknowledged the various seminars and teaching methodologies adopted by the Lagos State Government, describing them as good initiatives that propelled success.

“This has greatly improved the teaching skills of the teachers as well as the students’ academic performance”, he said
