LASCOPA SET TO COMMEMORATE Y2022 WORLD CONSUMER RIGHTS DAY

Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) will, on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, join Consumer International and other Consumer Groups worldwide to commemorate the Y2022 World Consumer Rights Day (WCRD) with a stakeholders forum themed: “Fair Digital Finance”.
The General Manager of LASCOPA, Mr. Afolabi Solebo, stated that the event is scheduled to hold at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) Conference and Exhibition Centre, Plot 10, Dr. Nurudeen Olowopopo Drive, CBD, Alausa, Ikeja, and will address the impact of new technologies in the financial service industry and the effect on consumers.
He averred that the forum will examine how new digital technology is reshaping payments, lending, insurance and wealth management and provide insights on the rights of consumers to enable them demand protection and stay safe from fraudulent activities in the marketplace.
While noting that the Day is also an opportunity to demand that the rights of all consumers are respected and protected against market abuse and social injustice, the General Manager disclosed that seasoned experts and facilitators in the banking and finance sector will speak on the theme of the celebration at the event.
Solebo further stated that stakeholders in the banking sector, financial institutions, consumer movements, top government officials and relevant regulatory agencies are expected to grace the event.
