LASCON CELEBRATES Y2022 NURSES’ DAY

The Provost, Lagos State College of Nursing, Igando, Mrs. Oyefunso Orenuga, has called on the Nurses and Midwives to have a reformative mindset in order to impact their patients and transform the healthcare sector.

Mrs. Orenuga made the call at a seminar organised by the College to celebrate the Year 2022 International Nurses Day which is globally marked on Florence Nightingale Day, the Mother of Modern Nursing.

Pointing out that International Nurses’ Day is devoted to honouring and acknowledging the contributions of Nurses all over the world, the Provost stated that the commemorates and recognises the immense contribution and dedication of Florence Nightingale to healthcare delivery.

Orenuga explained that the seminar with the theme: “Psychology of Behaviour: Your Mindset is Everything”, is part of the continuous efforts to expose students of the College to the Growth Mindset, thereby paving way for professional excellence.

In his presentation at the seminar, the Guest Speaker, Barrister Jide Ologun, listed the components of a growth mindset to include Motivation, Information, Networking, Determination, Strategy, Excellence and Transformation.

Charging nurses, midwives and nurses-in-training to embrace reformative innovations for transformation of the health sector and Nigeria as a country, Ologun noted that Nightingale became a reformer and trailblazer in the nursing and healthcare sector due to her resolve to make an impact. 

In his contribution, the President of the Students Association, Lagos State College of Nursing (LASCON), Mr. Martins Ebubeogu, appreciated the Provost and Management of the College for putting up the seminar to impact the Nurses and Midwives.

He implored the students to use the knowledge acquired at the seminar to enhance their profession and careers.

In commemoration of the day, the students of LASCON embarked on an outreach to sensitise the community about malaria infection.
