The Publisher/Editor-in-chief Of Giraffe Magazine and online, Akin Sokoya, and his siblings are bereaved.
The family lost their aged mother to the cold hands of death yesterday 6th November, 2020, in Ibadan, Oyo state. In a message sent by Obafemi Olaseni, who broke the news to the family, he declared;
“MAAMI HAS TAKEN THE FINAL BOW.”It’s with Heavy Heart and total Submission to the Unquestionable Will of ALMIGHTY GOD that we announce the Passing away from mother Earth, of our beloved Mom…Maami ELIZABETH IYABODE AFOLABI- SHOKOYA (nee Otenigbagbe).
“She joined her Creator on Friday, November 6th, 2020, at the age of 87. While narrating the event that led to her demise, Obafemi said, ”She had her breakfast as normal on Friday and had some rest. She ate twice daily because of her age but had warm water or fruit in the afternoon. She was due for her afternoon water/fruit when we found out that she has passed on peacefully on the chair she was sitting on.
“Please spare a moment to pray for the repose of her Gentle and Caring Soul. She will be missed by us all because she gave her all to give us a decent moral and spiritual upbringing. Further information regarding passage rites will be announced by the family.”
Mama was survived by children, grandchildren, great grand children and extended family.
