… Sensitises Traders, Business Owners on Directive

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Central Business Districts, Mr. Olugbenga Olanrewaju has disclosed that officials of the Agency will commence enforcement of the Lagos State Government’s directive on the closure of some markets and stores that do not sell essential items like food, water, pharmaceutical products and medical equipment.

Speaking during the enforcement exercise, the Special Adviser expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance and implored all business premises, traders and customers not affected by the directive to maintain strict hygiene and practice social distancing while conducting their businesses within the CBD.

“No business premises and shops should have more than 25 customers at a time and provision must be made for hand washing as well as an alcohol-based sanitiser for the use of all customers. Business owners, customers as well as visitors must also observe social distancing of not less than two metres from each other at all times,” Olanrewaju said.

The Special Adviser also warned that any business owner that refuses to comply with the State government’s directive on social gatherings will be shut down and penalised, imploring open markets and store owners affected by the directive not to open for business but stay as instructed.

The Enforcement team was made up of officers from the Nigeria Police, the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, the Nigeria Army and the Neighbourhood Watch.
