CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE TO PROF. CHARLES CHUKWUMA SOLUDO, CFR, FOR HIS VICTORY AT THE POLLS
We, the members of the CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION OF IGBO MINISTERS WORLDWIDE (CAIM), received with joy the good news of the successful conduct of the Anambra State gubernatorial election and the emergence of Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, as the winner of the election. Prof. Soludo, we heartily congratulate you as the Governor-elect of Anambra State.
The Christian Association of Igbo Ministers (CAIM) is a global Pan-Igbo association of clergy men and women whose core mandate is to unite Ndigbo through the Gospel and also intercede fervently for the good of Alaigbo and Ndigbo both at home and in the Diaspora.
This particular election was politically significant. The tension and apprehension that preceded the election, occasioned by the face-off between State and non-State actors, actually threatened the future of democratic governance, not only in Anambra State but also in the whole of the Southeast.
We give glory to the God of peace who intervened in answer to fervent intercessory prayers by His saints. God caused sanity to prevail by keeping disruptive forces at bay. Consequently, a peaceful, free, fair and credible election was conducted of which you are the winner and major beneficiary. To God be the glory.
We use this opportunity to commend the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, religious leaders, traditional rulers, political leaders and other Pan-Igbo associations who stood as one man to sue for peace and avert anarchy in Anambra State.
Prof., we rejoice with you because your well-deserved victory is the choice of Anambrarians who have now put a round peg in a round hole in the governance of the State. Given your antecedents and sterling performance in the academia, in the economic sector of Nigeria, especially the Central Bank and several international organizations where you served, we believe you have all it takes to take Anambra State to greater socioeconomic heights unprecedented in the annals of the State.
As major stakeholders in the affairs of Igboland, we have high expectations from you.
1) We expect to see a quantum leap in the economic transformation of the State as a template for the Southeast.
2) We expect to see the development of human capital especially in the productive sector of the economy.
3) As members of the clergy, we expect you to maintain an open door policy and level playing ground for all Christian denominations in the State. This will give birth to religious harmony in State.
4) Above all, we expect you to rule with justice in the fear of God to the benefit of all and sundry.
Rest assured that we, the members of Christian Association of Igbo Ministers (CAIM) Worldwide, will uphold you in prayer for the requisite grace, divine wisdom and peace necessary to enable you perform optimally in the arduous task of governance.
Finally, we commend all the contestants in the Anambra election for the maturity and spirit of sportsmanship they demonstrated without recourse to acrimony and arm-twisting litigations. Worthy of note is also the magnanimity exhibited by the winner who has extended the right hand of fellowship to his fellow contestants.
