Buhari conferred National Honours on Dr. Ankeli, Fashola, Okowa, Others

 Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday,11 October 2022 conferred National Honours Awards on Dr. Samuel Ankeli, Senior Special Assistant to president on People with Disabilities and others 447 Nigerians.

The award investiture ceremony was held at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

An investigation revealed that 5000 nominees were received by the George Akume-led awards committee, but only 447 were selected for the awards.

A total of 5,341 persons have been conferred with various National Honours since its inception in 1963, including the recipients of Tuesday awards.

The awardees include the President’s late Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari; Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State; Director General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala; Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Ishaq Oloyede;  the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola; Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, secretary TET Fund Arch. Sunny Echono amongst others.

meanwhile the paramount ruler of Idoma kingdom Agaba-Idu HRM Elaigwu Odogbo Obagaji John Och’Idoma V thanks His Excellency President Mohammed Buhari, President, and Commander-In-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for recognizing and conferring national honors on deserving Nigerians, especially Benue sons led by HRM Prof. James Ayatse, Tor Tiv V.

In a statement signed by Chief Palace Scribe & Media Aide Onuminya Odoba Samuel; Agaba-Idu congratulates the Chairman Benue state Council of chiefs and the President of the Tiv Area Traditional Council on the conferment of the National Merit Award of Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CRF), describing it as deserving and worthy.

Agaba-Idu further congratulates his eminent sons who are also recipients of National merits awards in different categories. The Paramount Ruler of the Idoma Kingdom described them as shining lights of the Idoma nation thus they would be celebrated the world over.

The recipients include

  1. Dr. Samuel Ankeli,
  2. Arc. Sunday Echono,
  3. Prof Innocent A. Ujah
  4. Alh Musa Audu,
  5. Chief Sylvanus Ameh,
  6. Innocent Idibia and
  7. Dr. Chris Obute.

His Majesty said this is a call to higher service and trust their various capacities to live and to deliver accordingly.
