CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION BRIEFS STAKEHOLDERS ON YEAR 2022 PROMOTION EXERCISE

In line with its commitment to ensuring excellence and professionalism in the State workforce, the Lagos State Civil Service Commission (CSC) has briefed stakeholders and eligible officers on the Revised Structured Training Programme (RSTP) for the Y2022 Promotion exercise.

Speaking at a recent virtual meeting, Chairman of the Civil Service Commission (CSC), Mrs. Olubunmi Fabamwo, said the programme was convened to sensitise eligible officers and stakeholders on modalities for the promotion exercise.

She said the Revised Structured Training Programme (RSTP) was introduced last year to deepen officers’ skills and prepare them for higher responsibilities after the promotion exercise.

Mrs. Fabamwo explained that Job Specific Training and Cross-Cutting issues were introduced as part of the training requirements for eligible officers, assuring that the year 2022 RSTP has been further expanded to improve the capacity of officers to deliver on their different assignments and achieve the T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda of the State Government.

Disclosing that CSC has engaged Senior Civil Servants from various Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs) as facilitators for the promotion exercise, the Chairman stated that oral interviews would be re-introduced this year for officers on grade levels 14 and above.

“The verbal interaction will enable the leadership of various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to meet with their staff and identify talents while any knowledge gaps observed during the exercise would also be quickly addressed to boost staff confidence”, she explained.

The Chairman, therefore, enjoined all officers eligible for the year 2022 promotion exercise and indeed all Public Servants to embrace the innovation for a fulfilling career in the State Public Service.

The Permanent Secretary, Civil Service Commission, Mrs. Boladele Dapo-Thomas, in her presentation, noted that the Commission had earlier issued two service-wide circulars before the briefing.

She informed that the Commission had also briefed stakeholders from the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), Lagos State Branch, on issues relating to the forthcoming promotion exercise to ensure its success.
